I have 4 children, 3 boys and a girl. When they were little I was homeschooling all of them but gradually they each chose to go to school, so now I'm just homeschooling my youngest. The crazy years as I call them was when they were elementary and all homeschooled. Gradually I realized that my children were more difficult to raise than most. Later one got a dyslexic/autistic diagnosis and another an ADHD diagnosis, but when they were 2, 4 and 6 I read Raising Your Spirited Child by Mary Sheedy Kurchinka and that book was the start of accepting my children for who they are and not trying to fix them.
I built up a group of ladies, with similar children, and we decided to homeschool our not-very-easy-to-raise-children, which adds a whole new dynamic to raising spirited children. The entries on this blog are from these moms. Everything is written in first person with no identifying names, but not everything has been written by me.
Originally my husband and I are from England. We moved to California when the 3 boys were 1, 3 and 5. I believe that not having any family in the same country just added to my struggles and feeling of isolation while raising my children at home.
